SPRING PLAY - Twelve Incompetent Jurors!

Picture

Cast A: April 15-17 / Cast B: April 22-24

We are proud to announce that we will be having a full-fledged play as our Spring Play! We do not know yet what kind of format it will be in, but we are hoping for the best and planning for all scenarios. More information on Auditions/Rehearsal Info page!

When a man is accused of abducting half a dozen cats, it's a simple open-and-shut case, even for a jury that's filled with oddballs like a dim-witted PR flack, a bickering couple, and a creep obsessed with french fries. After all, every scrap of evidence indicts the accused. (I mean so clearly. The man is very, very guilty of stealing cats. Case closed.) And yet, Juror #8, a wannabe lawyer, believes that the "Cat Burglar" is innocent. Will he be able to sway the other jury members? Or will they side with Juror #3, the only sane one in the room? A hilarious parody of 12 Angry Men.

Almost, Maine - A Staged Reading!

Open Reading will Occur via Zoom on
Thursday, December 10th at 5pm

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

Bread and Circuses

 November 19th and 20th, 7pm!

"Bread and Circuses" is an original devised virtual production by the Sanderson Advanced Theatre Ensemble. It is a documentary play that was written from interviews from all the members of the class and chronicles their lives from before the COVID 19 pandemic to today and how they view the future. It is a raw, honest look at how teenagers lives, relationships and world views have been effected by these unprecedented times.

The Rimers of Eldritch, A Staged Reading!

Open Reading will Occur via Zoom on
Wednesday, September 23rd at 3:00PM

In the fictional very small rural town of Eldritch Iowa, a man has been murdered. The mystery is, who he is, who murdered him and what were the circumstances? And to solve it, Wilson looks at the outsides and insides of his tiny, Middle Western town. He looks at a middle-aging woman who falls in love with the young man who comes to work in her café. He looks at a coarse, nasty woman mistreating her senile mother, who is obsessed with visions of Eldritch being evil and headed for blood-spilling. He looks at a tender relationship between a young man and a dreamy, crippled girl. But Wilson sees far more than this. He is grasping the very fabric of small town America, with its catchword morality and its capability for the vicious. He senses the rhythm of its life and the cruelty it can impose.

2020 - 2021 Sanderson Theatre Season

A message from Mr. C:

Dear Parents, Students and Patrons of STE,

We thank you for your continued patience and support as we adjust to everything that is new about our situation. As school started, and we looked at the volume of work that would be thrust on our staff and students in this virtual teaching and learning world, we decided to suspend our planned fall production of "The Tempest".

We will be working to bring content to our students and audience during this semester. The Advanced Theatre Ensemble is devising a new work about the social effects of the pandemic on young people. We will present that to you after we submit it to the NCTC Virtual High School Play Festival in November. ITS will also be producing 4 special events over the fall semester, 2 staged readings, an "at home film festival" and a virtual cabaret night. Please keep checking the website and our social media pages for updated information.
